Creating a foundation for children to develop a love of learning through self discovery, imagination, and creativity. Within our supportive and safe environment, learning is facilitated by fostering respect for oneself, each other and the environment.
Our educational philosophy is guided by our belief that you must provide developmentally appropriate practices for children based on their individual needs. We incorporate many different philosophies, but primarily use Constructivism, The Project Approach, and Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE).
Constructivism
Founded
on the premise that by reflecting
on our experiences, we construct our own understanding of the world we live in. It emphasizes
hands-on problem solving. Teachers focus children on making connections between facts and hands-on
observation. [--More --]
Reggio Emilia
The Project Approach, often
termed "Reggio Emilia." Known primarily for its art-centered base. The concept emphasized in this approach is the image of
the child as a competent, powerful, individual. The physical environment is of great importance
and considered "the third teacher" in the classroom. Other significant features include photographs
of children, work samples, and documentation. [--More--]
Resources for Infant Educarers (RIE)
RIE, Used primarily
for children under three years, RIE encourages observations of the child in order to understand their
needs. It allows basic trust of the child to be the initiator in their environment. It gives the
child freedom to explore and interact with other infants while providing consistency and other
clearly defined limits and giving the child time for uninterrupted play. [--More--]
