Creating a foundation for children to develop a love of learning through self discovery, imagination, and creativity. Within our supportive and safe environment, learning is facilitated by fostering respect for oneself, each other and the environment.
As part of our unit studies, our preschool group will periodically take a trip away from the center. Generally these trips will require parent volunteers. All field trips will be posted 30 days prior to the event. Ratios for field trips are 3 children to 1 adult. Children and volunteers will be traveling by public transportation (bus or Max) or by personal vehicles. For those parents who wish to volunteer a valid Oregon drivers license and a proof of insurance must be submitted 30 days before the trip date. Parents must provide a car seat or booster chair for children who weigh less than 60 pounds.
Seasonal and holiday celebrations are developed around being compassionate toward other human beings. As a basic policy, the center does not present material that fosters or hinders religious beliefs among children. We choose to not make holidays a focus of our children's activities, but to invite families to share their traditions with us if they wish to. We will recognize holidays that are significant to our families and provide opportunities for children to discuss their traditions.
Birthdays are an opportunity to talk about the life of each child. We ask that parents participate in our birthday celebrations by bringing a picture or significant object about the child for each of their life years. We display these pictures and objects for the children to view and discuss throughout the day. Children are encouraged to write or draw a picture for the birthday child also to display. Birthday sweets and other goodies are omitted from the centers festivity. We feel that this full day celebration is a much more meaningful way of including all of the children in this life celebration.
